Fort Pickens is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and is located near Pensacola Beach, Florida.
Visitors can explore historic structures like Fort Pickens, Battery Cooper, and Battery Worth or enjoy miles of pristine beach.
The campground has almost 150 campsites with electricity, water, a picnic table, an in-ground grill, and a fire ring.
These sites are $40 a night and all sites in the park can be reserved here.
When making reservations be very careful and read each specific site details. Some loops have height restrictions, some are tent only, and some do not allow generators.
Check-in time is 2 pm and check-out time is 11 am. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 6 am.
Campsite occupancy is limited to two vehicles and six people per site.
All fires must be contained in the provided fire grills. You can collect downed firewood in the park but do not collect and burn driftwood. Make sure every spark is out before going to bed or leaving camp.
A comfort station with bathrooms, showers, and laundry are provided. We did laundry and took showers and everything worked great.
A dump station is available for guests and a dumpster to properly dispose of trash.
Pets are allowed as long as they are properly leashed and please pick up after them. Pets are NOT allowed on any beach though.
Neither our Verizon or AT&T really worked well, but our Starlink did great.
Fort Pickens was a lot of fun to explore and it was great to be able to walk around inside at your own pace and not be restricted by a tour.
The Blackbird Marsh Trail is accessible from camp and we walked it multiple times during our stay with the dog.
The Florida National Scenic Trail goes through the park as well and is a short stroll from the campground. We walked it on our way to check out Battery Langdon.
The beach was a five minute walk from the campground and we spent a lot of time there.
We had a blast walking the sandbars, looking for seashells, and just playing in the water. We even saw dolphins twice!
Camping At Fort Pickens was amazing and I wish we could of stayed longer, but I know we will absolutely be back again.
Always follow the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and try to leave your camp nicer than you found it. Please research campgrounds before visiting. Rules and regulations may have changed since we stayed there.
