Dinosaur National Monument features a network of six campgrounds dispersed throughout its vast borders to accommodate the large number of visitors it receives each year.
This year we stayed at the Green River Campground on the Utah side of the monument near Jenson.
It is located along the banks of the Green River in a grove of cottonwood trees at an elevation of 4,795.
The campground is along Cub Creek Road about 5 miles from the Quarry Visitor Center and Quarry Exhibit Hall, both must-see stops when visiting.
Sites in Loop C are first-come, first-served and reservations are available for the A and B Loop sites. There are around 80 campsites with the price being $18 a night.
Reservations can be made on recreation.gov.
We made reservations and the sites in our loop were pretty level. I felt half the sites in the first-come, first-served loop were not the best.
Notably, the campground is only open from mid-April to mid-October due to adverse weather conditions.
Camping allowances are capped at 14 days. Campsite occupancy is limited to two vehicles and eight people per site.
Check-out time is 11 am and check-in time begins at noon. Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 9 pm until 7 am with no generator use during this time as well.
Restroom facilities are spread throughout the campground as well as trashcans to dispose of your trash properly.
There is no dump station but water spigots are available near the restrooms.
Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit.
All fires must be in the designated fire ring provided and be aware that fire restrictions may be in effect. Firewood is for sale seasonally at the campground.
I believe we had AT&T service but no Verizon.
Pets are allowed as long as they are properly leashed and please pick up after them.
The trailhead for the River Trail is located at the northern end of Loop A in Green River Campground.
This out-and-back trail 3-mile trail connects to Split Mountain Campground with stunning views of Split Mountain, the Green River, and Cub Creek Valley.
I highly recommend hiking the trail during your visit.
Green River Campground is a nice little campground and a great place to stay during your visit to Dinosaur National Monument.

Always follow the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and try to leave your camp nicer than you found it. Please research campgrounds before visiting. Rules and regulations may have changed since we stayed there.
