Hiking The Two Ribbons Trail In Yellowstone National Park
The Two Ribbons Trail in Yellowstone National Park is an easy 0.7-mile boardwalk loop with virtually no elevation gain, making it accessible for all visitors.
This scenic hike winds through conifer trees along the Madison River, with interpretive signs along the way that provide additional information about the area.
The trail has two starting points: the east trailhead (44.65163, -111.03083) and the west trailhead (44.6523, -111.03752), both located on the road between Yellowstone’s West Entrance and Madison Campground.
You can begin the hike from either trailhead. Starting on the east side offers more views of the river, while the west side takes you through a young conifer forest.
Across the river, you’ll find a sagebrush meadow backdropped by the mountains.
Keep an eye out for wildlife along the trail; during our visit, we spotted a young deer, several chipmunks, and various waterfowl species.
The trail is dotted with benches, perfect for taking a break and soaking in the scenery. This short and picturesque hike is ideal for the whole family.
Bears may be active in this area. It’s highly recommended to carry bear spray when hiking in Yellowstone National Park.
