Exploring Boyd Skinner Park In Pinedale, Wyoming
Boyd Skinner Park is a delightful area nestled in the equally charming town of Pinedale, Wyoming.
Visitors can indulge in a variety of activities, including picnicking, hiking, and birdwatching, all set against a peaceful natural backdrop.
Located two blocks south of Pine Street/Highway 191 on South Franklin Avenue, the park is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm.
Public restrooms are available seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and trashcans are conveniently placed throughout the park.
Boyd Skinner Park features a children’s playground, a fishing pond for kids (13 and under I believe), picnic tables, and a paved exercise/walking path.
A footbridge takes visitors across Pine Creek, leading to a 2.5-mile out-and-back trail that winds through parts of the town, following the creek most of the way.
Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck in Pine Creek, but remember to have a Wyoming fishing license.
Along the trail, visitors can enjoy a unique Story Stroll that begins at the Shanley Avenue entrance, featuring In the Red Canoe by Leslie A. Davidson. This innovative concept enhances the walking experience and is a delightful touch.
I had never seen this done anywhere before and thought it was an amazing idea.
Keep an eye out for moose, which frequently visit the park. Although they seem accustomed to people, it’s important to admire these majestic animals from a safe distance and use caution if you encounter one.
If you’re visiting Pinedale, which I highly recommend, be sure to stop by Boyd Skinner Park. It’s a wonderful little park with a beautiful hike that you won’t want to miss.
