Our Visit To Hocking Hills State Park
Hocking Hills State Park near Logan, Ohio is an amazing state park that we have visited multiple times throughout the years.
Within the park are over 25 miles of hiking trails, unique rock formations, multiple waterfalls, and several recess caves.
The park contains seven separate hiking areas which include: Ash Cave, Cantwell Cliffs, Cedar Falls, Conkle’s Hollow Nature Preserve, Old Man’s Cave, Rock House, and Whispering Cave.
The trails are open from dawn to dusk, all year round and pets are allowed on all trails except in the Conkle’s Hollow Nature Preserve.
We camped in the Hocking Hills State Park Campground which is centrally located to all the hiking areas. It’s a nice little campground with all the amenities you may need.
If you’re not RV or tent camping there are hotels in the area and tons of cabins to rent. We rented cabins two years in a row for our anniversary and had a great time.
The visitor center is only a couple of years old and conveniently located next to the campground and Old Man’s Cave which is a highlight of the state park.
Old Man’s Cave has some amazing rock formations and two waterfalls.
Restrooms, trashcans, and a gift shop are all available at the visitor center. Rangers and volunteers are available at the information desk to answer any questions.
It was a travel day for us this time so we only spent one night and didn’t get to do all the hikes but managed to get a few in.
Rock House is my favorite and I enjoy Cantwell Cliffs but all the hikes in the area are incredible. Most are pretty short and not that strenuous.

Located next to the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center you will find the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum which is free and fun.
Mini-golf at Adventure Golf At Rempel’s Grove is always a good time as well.
Logan has a ton of restaurants, shops, and even antique malls to enjoy.
Hocking Hills State Park is an amazing place and we always have a great time when we visit. Two nights is all you’ll need to complete all the hikes and I swear you’ll have a great time during your visit.
