Grand Teton National Park is a large and highly frequented national destination being one of the most popular national parks in the country. To cater to the multitude of visitors it receives each year, the park features a network of eight campgrounds strategically dispersed throughout its borders.
During our August visit this year, we spent six nights at two different campgrounds within the park boundaries. This post is about Signal Mountain Campground which was chosen for its central location within the park.
The campground has 56 non-electric/tent sites and 25 electric hook-up sites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, a fire pit, and a bear box for food storage.
Restroom facilities are spread throughout the campground as well as trashcans to dispose of your trash properly.
At the front of the campground, a dump station and water fill station facilitate campers needs. A building at the front of the campground also has pay showers and laundry facilities that we took full advantage of during our visit.
New cell phone towers were recently put in so we had great service on AT&T and Verizon during our stay.
Reservations are required and can be made at recreation.gov.
Non-electric sites are $54 a night and electric sites are $77 a night.
Notably, the campground closes from October 17th to May 13th due to adverse weather conditions. Camping allowances are capped at 14 days. Campsite occupancy is limited to six people per site.
Check-out time is 11 am and check-in time begins at noon. Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10 pm until 7 am. Generators are permitted in loops 1 & 2 only, between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm and cannot be left unattended.
Pets are allowed as long as they are properly leashed and please pick up after them.
This is a national park so the sites are pretty close together so be prepared to socialize with your neighbors, including elk for us every day.
RVs and trailers up to a maximum of 30 feet in length are allowed.
We did see a couple of bigger rigs, but they seemed to barely squeeze into their spots. This particular campground is not made for larger rigs, but other campgrounds in the park are.
Signal Mountain Campground is a nice little campground and a great place to stay during your visit to Grand Teton National Park. We loved this park but didn’t get to do everything we wanted to so a future trip is in our plans.

Always follow the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and try to leave your camp nicer than you found it. Please research campgrounds before visiting. Rules and regulations may have changed since we stayed there.
