Hiking The Lakeshore Trail In Grand Teton National Park
The scenic Lakeshore Trail within Grand Teton National Park winds alongside the border of Colter Bay and the eastern edge of Jackson Lake, offering hikers an accessible path suitable for all levels of experience.
The trailhead can be found near the marina behind the Colter Bay Visitor Center. The trail spans approximately two miles with a mere 100-foot elevation gain, making it an ideal choice for a leisurely family outing.
The Lakeshore Trail consists of two connecting loops with the first 1/3 of the mile being paved.
Visitors will traverse the serene forested area and hike along Jackson Lake’s shoreline. Once you reach the western tip of the peninsula, breathtaking views of the majestic Teton Range unfold before you.
The surrounding Colter Bay ecosystem supports a diverse array of wildlife, including moose, elk, and an assortment of avian species.
Additionally, always be prepared and carry bear spray when exploring any hiking trails in Grand Teton National Park. During our visit, there were warning signs for an active momma bear on this trail.
A visit to Grand Teton National Park would be incomplete without a hike along this trail. Take in the awe-inspiring vistas and relish in the opportunity to skip rocks and frolic in the tranquil waters at the lake’s edge.
I also wanted to note that it was a pretty gloomy day during our hike so I didn’t take many pictures because the views weren’t as amazing as they should have been. Hopefully, during your hike the sun will shine bright.
