The Fishing Bridge Visitor Center is located one mile off the Grand Loop Road in the central part of Yellowstone National Park, near the eastern entrance.
It’s located adjacent to the historic Fishing Bridge, which spans the Yellowstone River where it flows out of Yellowstone Lake.
It originally opened in 1931 and was designed by architect Herbert Maier in a style that has become known as National Park Service Rustic also known as “parkitecture”.
It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
The visitor center provides information, education, and orientation to park visitors. It serves as a hub for visitors to learn about the park’s natural wonders, geology, history, and recreational opportunities.
Inside the visitor center, you’ll find a range of informative displays, exhibits, and interactive materials that showcase the park’s unique features, wildlife, and ecosystems. This museum highlights the ecology of Yellowstone Lake, focusing on birds with some amazing taxidermy pieces.
Park rangers and staff are available to answer questions, provide maps, and offer guidance on park activities and safety. Rangers can also stamp your passport and sign the little ones up for the Junior Ranger program.
In the small gift shop, you can find books, maps, souvenirs, and other items related to Yellowstone National Park.
Restrooms, trashcans, and a water bottle filling station are all available here.
