Hiking The Sunset Point And Goosenecks Point Trails In Capitol Reef National Park
If you’re looking for short, fun family-friendly hikes in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah be sure not to miss Sunset and Goosenecks Points.
Goosenecks Overlook provides breathtaking views of the Sulphur Creek Canyon as it twists and turns through the landscape, creating dramatic gooseneck-shaped bends.
It is easily accessible by a short walk from the parking area (600 feet according to the sign).
The Sunset Point trail is a scenic hiking trail that offers stunning views of the park’s landscape, particularly during sunset.
There are rocks to climb at the end of the trail that provide an epic spot to sit and soak in your surroundings.
This trail is a total of 0.80 miles long with only 50 feet of elevation gain. It is also easily accessible from the parking area.
Both of these trails are short and easy providing great views of the landscape Capitol Reef National Park is known for.
You’re sure to encounter dozens of small lizards crossing your path so watch where you step!
These trails share a parking lot and the trailhead is located off Utah State Highway 24 (38.3072, -111.29556) on a road marked with a sign to the overlook of Panorama Point (also worth checking out).
Once you reach the top follow the signs down the dirt road to Sunset Point and Goosenecks.
