Fort Zion is a quirky roadside attraction that we all know is a tourist trap, but pull our cars into anyways.
The trading post has all the souvenirs you could ask for in a town so close to Zion National Park. They also have a ton of rocks and crystals for sale as well as handmade local crafts.
An ice cream parlor in the back serves homemade ice cream.
I believe they also run a diner here that I’ve read serves some great burgers.
The reason that people pull in though is to check out the buildings meant to represent an old fort.
You’ll find a bank, saloon, undertaker’s office, and jail as you walk around the lot. My favorite building was Miss Molly’s House of Negotiable Affections!
You are free to go inside the buildings (even though they’re empty) and take as many pictures as you want.
In the back, you will find the small petting zoo. During our visit, there were a couple of horses, a few llamas, and a few species of goats.
It costs $2 per person to go check out the buildings and petting zoo. For an extra buck, you can get two carrots to feed the animals.
The completely brown horse is a bit aggressive so mind your fingers.
It’s not the most impressive roadside attraction we’ve stopped at, but it’s cheap enough that it was worth it.
My only complaint is the animal pens seemed a bit small and those llamas needed a few extra pounds on them.
