While visiting Winslow, Arizona we took a stroll through First Street Park And Gazebo to let the dog stretch his legs.
Also known as First Street Pathway Park, it provided enough street parking for us to park our truck and rig here while we explored the town.
The park runs parallel to the BNSF Railway tracks and covers 6 city blocks between La Posada Hotel and the Hubbell Building Visitor Center.
The pathway is completely paved and beautifully landscaped making it a perfect walk for the entire family.
Along the path, you’ll find old vehicles, a steel windmill, and multiple old railway cars. You can get up close and personal with everything so spend as much time as you want to explore.
A very cool totem by artist Peter Wolf Toth can be found in the park and it was my favorite attraction.
It’s part of his “Trail of the Whispering Giants” series that includes at least one piece in each state.
We also saw the Wacinton Totem he carved during our visit to Paducah, Kentucky.
There are multiple signs providing some history of the town including a tribute to Route 66.
It’s the perfect spot to stretch your legs after a long drive, walk the pup or just sit in the Gazebo and relax (minus any trains rolling by of course).
The park is a very short walk to downtown Winslow including the World’s Smallest Church On Route 66 and Standin’ On The Corner Park which are fun little attractions to check out.
