Most People know the song Take It Easy. It was written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey and made famous when it was recorded by the Eagles.
If you’re a big fan of the musical hit you can visit the corner mentioned in the song in Winslow, Arizona.
“Well, I’m a-standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona and such a fine sight to see. It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me.”
This famous verse in the song is reconstructed right in Winslow.
Standin’ On The Corner Park opened in September of 1999 and is operated by the Standin’ On The Corner Foundation.
The corner features a life-sized statue of a man with a guitar by sculptor Ronald Adamson. A highway sign saying “Standin’ On The Corner” is on the light pole above the statue.
A statue of Glenn Frey was added in 2016.
A trompe l’oeill style mural, by artist John Pugh, is painted on the brick wall behind the statues.
The mural features a woman in a pickup truck reflected in a storefront window. If you look in the window above you will see a couple locked in an embrace.
An old flatbed Ford is also parked right on the street.
It’s a fun little photo-op if you happen to be driving through town.
Winslow is part of old Route 66 and a giant Route 66 logo is painted on the streets intersection.
You can purchase souvenirs in the gift shop across from the statue.
