Murals In Downtown Metropolis
While exploring Metropolis, Illinois we noticed multiple murals painted on the side of a number of buildings downtown.
Apparently, six murals were initially painted on buildings along Ferry Street and Market Street. Each mural reveals a different story on the history of the city.
Interpretive plaques are displayed beside each mural describing the historical significance of each painting.
We only found four murals with plaques, but we might have just missed the other two. I also posed with a Love From Metropolis mural which I don’t think was part of the original six.
I also couldn’t find much information on the murals so I don’t know how long ago they were painted or if they have changed over the years.
Either way, if you’re already in town to check out the World’s Largest Superman statue or to visit the Super Museum be sure to keep a lookout for all these great murals while wandering around town.
