Hiking The Turnhole Bend Nature Trail In Mammoth Cave National Park
The Turnhole Bend Nature Trail is located in Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky.
The parking lot for the trailhead (37.16238, -86.1584) can be accessed off of Brownsville Road.
This 0.6 mile loop trail has about 100 feet of elevation gain and it’s pet friendly.
From the parking lot travel up some steps and start the loop. We went left which required us hiking uphill for a bit. You’ll pass a sinkhole then continue on the ridge.
Then you’ll come to a scenic overlook and off in the distance you’ll be able to see the Green River. Continue on the trail past another sinkhole then back to the parking lot.
I found this trail to be quite boring and it was probably my least favorite one we hiked in the park.
There are a couple informational boards along the way and it’s short if you just want to get out and hike to hike though.
The scenic overlook is nice, but if there were other hikes in the park that peaked your interest and your short on time I would skip this one.
