While walking around the main street of historic Deadwood, South Dakota I peeked inside one of the many shops and spied a wall full of soda pops and a case full of chocolates and decided today was a cheat day!
If you’re craving that caffeine fix Deadwood Tasty Treats can serve you up an Espresso, Cappuccino, or Latte.
If your sweet tooth needs satisfying you can purchase locally made truffles, chocolates, old-fashioned candy, hand-dipped ice cream, floats, sundaes, and shakes.
They have some bulk candy to choose from and a large variety of taffy flavors.
They have multiple walls featuring an assortment of craft sodas in all kinds of tasty sounding flavors. There is also a small deli featuring salads, sandwiches, and a few desserts. If you need to pick up a souvenir they have them too.
Did I forget to mention they just happen to be connected to the Wild Bill Bar that serves twelve local taps and their own special brew (Wild Bill Mild). Oh, the bar just happens to be the place where Wild Bill Hickok was killed as well.
So after picking up some sweet treats head on over to the bar for a drink and tour this famous location.
Now I am actually really proud of our restraint on this particular day. We ended up only buying 2 craft sodas and four truffles.
For us, that is a miracle! So let’s break down our picks below.
Bourbon Truffle
If you’re a bourbon fan this is the truffle for you. Eating this truffle was like shooting a straight up shot of bourbon. There was so much flavor packed in this baby.
Root Beer Float Truffle
I’m more of a root beer than bourbon girl and this truffle had me reminiscing the dog days of summer and cooling down with a sweet root beer float. So tasty!
S’mores Truffle
Yes S’mores, everyone’s favorite campfire treat. No campfires in South Dakota where we are boondocking, but this truffle made me feel like I was eating a s’mores for sure.
Dreamsicle Truffle
My favorite cool treat in the summer is a delicious dreamsicle. Whenever I come across anything with this flavor I always give it a try and this truffle did not disappoint.
When it came to flavor every one of these sweet treats really packed a punch.
There was no denying which flavor was melting in your mouth at the time. It wasn’t the best chocolate in the world, but it was still good.
I think their dedication to really getting the flavor across made up for the chocolate not being my favorite. By far the most flavorful truffles I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring.
I love trying different craft sodas.
From Monster Mucus to Dewberry I’m up for trying a variety of flavors. We only ended up getting two this trip around. We planned on hitting up the store again, but sadly never got around to it.
Below are my thoughts.
Marionberry Creme Craft Soda
I had never heard of a marionberry before so we looked it up. Found out it was basically a blackberry (my favorite fruit) so we had to pick one up. It was just as delicious as I thought it would be.
Huckleberry Craft Soda
Before we started traveling we had never had anything huckleberry before. Now whenever we see something huckleberry flavored we pick it up, because it’s delicious. This was the best craft soda I’ve ever tasted!
So if you’re in Deadwood and want to pick up a sweet treat or grab a fun flavored pop head into Deadwood Tasty Treats. I guarantee you there will be something in this store you will be dying to try out.
