Standing guard in front of Dahl’s Chainsaw Art in Hill City, South Dakota is the World’s Largest Smokey Bear statue.
Completed in just 10 days by seven wood artists from around the country Smokey stands 30 feet tall and is 25 feet wide. The giant wooden statue was constructed this year and became a permanent resident of the city on May 10th.
This beauty is just incredible. He is so large and so well constructed and just looks absolutely incredible. Hill City is a cute little tourist town in the Black Hills of South Dakota with some great museums, shops, and even a train. This colossal new statue is just another reason to visit this charming place.
For over a decade, Dahl’s Chainsaw Art has been making a name for themselves in the Black Hills.
Their work is spectacular and they have 3 different shops in the region with an ever-changing inventory and some permanent residents as well. Last year I sat my butt in the giant wood chairs at all three of their locations for some fun Instagram worthy pics.
