The Mule Canyon Interpretive Site, also known as the Mule Canyon Kiva, is located off of State Route 95 about 20 miles from Blanding, Utah. It’s one of a multitude of ruins in the area and one that should not be missed.
The site consists of a complex of preserved ancestral Puebloan structures that are over 700 years old.
A kiva and tower have been excavated and stabilized for viewing. A canopy was constructed over the underground kiva by the Bureau of Land Management to protect it. An excavated block of twelve rooms can also be found on the premises.
A paved walkway takes you from the parking lot to some interpretive signage. The signs provide history on the structures and Ancestral Puebloans that called the area home.
The paved walkway also allows you to travel around the complex to get a closer look at all the structures.
There are vault toilets located at the parking lot and the site is available for viewing 24/7 for free.
