A Stop At Forrest Gump Hill
- GPS: 37.10257, -109.98932
When you drive right past something this iconic you just have to stop.
No it’s not a national park or popular recreation area it’s the spot where Forrest Gump ends his cross-country run in the 1994 film of the same name. Technically you can see Monument Valley in the back though and that’s a pretty iconic location as well!
Located near mile marker 13 on US Highway 163 right outside southern Utah’s famous Monument Valley you will find a sign marking this famous spot in movie history. There are pull-offs on both sides of the highway for you to park your vehicle and grab a pic. I put exact GPS coordinates for you above.
It’s a pretty popular spot for visitors. Wait your turn and watch for traffic, but you will have plenty of opportunities to grab that perfect pic.
When I told Jamey we were driving right by he demanded it be a must-stop location. He really likes the movie and it’s one of my fathers favorite movies as well. It’s not often you get to recreate a scene from a famous flick that you really enjoy.
I’m pretty tired…I think I’ll go home now 😉
