As soon as you open the door to Apple Annie’s Country Store the delicious smell of fresh baked bread and pies hits you and makes it almost impossible to walk away.
All of the pies and breads they sell are made from scratch daily in the store. They also make their own apple butter from the apples they grow in their orchard. If you walk in hungry they have daily soup specials, seasonal wraps and unique sandwiches to try. They also have a variety of homemade fudge to choose from.
A large variety of butters, jams, jellies, salsas and oils are available for purchase. There are also specialized candies and Amish made food products. The store has gift baskets, knick-knacks, decorations, home goods and more for sell in their gift shop.
One of the items we walked out with was cherry butter. I love apple butter, but had never tried or even heard of cherry butter before. As expected it was delicious. I spread it over chocolate peanut butter and toast and man was it a yummy combination. I would buy this stuff again in a heartbeat.
The other item we picked up was Amish-Made Garlic-Parsley Noodles. When we first opened the bag they smelled absolutely delicious and I was really excited to try them. I couldn’t wait to have some flavored egg noodles. We cooked them and ate them, but they had NO garlic-parsley flavor.
Don’t get me wrong they were still the absolutely best noodles I have ever tasted, but the flavor I was promised on the packaging was nonexistent. It was disappointing. They smelled so good and I had really high expectations. Alas, I had to settle for just really good non-flavored noodles. For the price, I wouldn’t buy them again.
So if you happen to be driving by Willcox, AZ and have a moment stop at Apple Annie’s Country Store to pick up some home-made goodies. We would of got a pie, but they were sold out (think you gotta be there early to get one of those babies). The bread smelled so good and I really should of picked one up. Next time I will.
