The Woodland Wildlife Trail can be found at the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge visitor center near Crossett, Arkansas.
It’s a flat 1/2 mile asphalt trail that circles the building. Along the trail are informational signs on the local wildlife and landscape which makes it an educational stroll for the kids as well.
It’s a pretty walk through the woods with a cute little pond in the middle. A shelter with picnic tables is available for lunch. The pond has a dock and benches around it to sit back, relax and take in the peaceful scenery.
The visitor center was closed for covid while we were camping in the area, but if it is open they have a number of exhibits on the area inside to check out.
We spent two weeks camping in the wildlife refuge and had a very peaceful stay. There really aren’t any other hiking trails in the area, but there are plenty of secluded dirt roads around to walk on.
It’s nothing to go out of your way for, but if you happen to be driving by it’s worth the half hour stop.
