I Think We Found An Alien Species In The Lake
While fishing on Lake Ouachita near Mount Ida, Arkansas we may have discovered an alien species.
The solid and gelatinous clear blob was lying on the shore and appeared to have a stick trapped in the middle upon closer inspection. Even though we knew better from all the horror movies we have watched we picked it up for a pic anyways.
I posted the pics to Facebook to see if anyone could identify the object or confirm that the alien invasion had begun.
Thanks to all my amazing friends I learned it was actually Bryozoa.
Bryozoans are microscopic aquatic invertebrates that live in colonies and are also called “moss animals”. Colonies attach to a structure such as a rock or submerged branch and appear as gelatinous globs that can be as large as a basketball.
Most of the nearly 5,000 species are marine, but 24 freshwater species are found in North America. They are not toxic, venomous or harmful to humans.
We left are new little friends on the shore where we found them and walked away.
We kept an eye on them though. This is 2020 after all and with everything that has transpired this year anything is possible. Maybe aliens did come to earth and disguise themselves as harmless aquatic organisms.
You can’t be too careful nowadays.
