Well Hello Mr. Lincoln

While driving to Spearfish Falls in South Dakota Jamey spotted a giant bust of Abraham Lincoln on the side of the road so obviously we had to pull over.

After a little google search we discovered the bust was part of the now closed Presidents Park. Opened in 2003 by sculptor David Adickes it closed its gates by 2010 due to poor public response. The park contained the busts of 43 presidents each 16 to 20 feet tall and weighing about 18 tons. The gate to the park is locked up and has closed signs on it and the bust of honest Abe is the only one you can see.

If you want to check out the giant aging bust yourself its located about 5 miles SW of Deadwood/Lead on US85. It always amazing me when we find quirky little things during our travels just sitting on the side of the road. I wonder how many abandoned parks and tourist attractions are scattered around this country decaying just beyond our view waiting to be rediscovered?
