Dahl’s Chainsaw Art in Hill City

While dispersed camping in the black hills of South Dakota we took some time to visit the charming little tourist town of Hill City.

We ended up going back multiple times to explore and this is the place I sat in my first giant carved chair at Dahl’s Chainsaw Art.

I say first because we would visit Dahl’s again in two other cities and sit in other wooden chairs.

It became a South Dakota thing and it was awesome. I got fewer pics here than in the other two spots, but what these artists can do with a block of wood and a chainsaw is pretty darn amazing.

This first chair has a patriotic theme. Climb on up and snap a pic to post to your social media accounts.

They have a little donation box beside the chair. Throw in a buck because it’s worth it for the photo op and the ability to walk around and browse their creations.

Most of the items on display are for sale if you find a piece you decide you just can’t live without.
