In front of Sinclair gas station in Kadoka, South Dakota stands a 17 foot piece of art known as Scrappy the white-tailed deer.
Created by Brett and Tammy Prang of Incredible Metal Scrappy is appropriately named because he is composed of scrap metal, old tools and old car parts. He is placed upon a crushed automobile with an informative plaque. He really is a cool piece of art that’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Also at the gas station is a Sinclair Dino, small buffalo statue and a quirky little piece of art in the backyard.
We found this guy while trying to visit Badlands Petrified Gardens just a couple miles away. Turns out they were closed and had been for a year, but absolutely no mention of it on their website. We drove over 30 minutes to see it and were quite disappointed when we arrived to find it shut down.
Scrappy was a nice little consolation prize at least.
