The World’s Largest Mailbox is located in Casey, Illinois and claimed it’s title on October 20, 2015.
It’s dimensions total 5,743.41 cubic feet and can be viewed for free 24/7.
To claim the title of world’s largest it had to be a fully functional mailbox.
You can climb stairs inside the mailbox to the top and look out over the town. There is a slot at the top where you can actually mail a letter to someone. The red flag on the side goes up when letters or postcards are mailed from the mailbox.
Besides the rocking chair I think the mailbox is the most impressive attraction in town.
It’s a favorite among visitors, because you can actually climb inside and wave to your friends below. It’s a perfect photo op for posting on social media and sharing with your family and friends.
On a side note make sure you visit the ice cream shop right on the corner. You have to walk right past it to get to the mailbox and their hand-dipped ice cream and shakes are not to be missed.
They are absolutely delicious!
