Welcome to Tiger Truck Stop the tourist trap in Grosse Tete, Louisiana.
Driving down interstate 10 you will see these giant billboards for Tiger Truck Stop beckoning you to come see their tiger. So we take the exit to go see a truck stop tiger.
There is no tiger. In fact the tiger died in 2017. After some google searches after leaving the truck stop I discovered there is actually a whole national story on the tiger and truck stop. You can click on their website link above to hear their side of the story and google to hear the rest. I don’t really want to get into it on here. Maybe I read the billboards wrong and got my hopes up about seeing a tiger.
Anyways the cages are still there and you can see a kangaroo, goat, chickens and a couple coatis. Supposedly there is a dromedary camel there, but we somehow missed it. The cages and truck stop in general look a bit run down. The place has been around for a time and it shows. There’s a 24 hour cafe on site as well as the gas station.
Unless you are a tourist trap fan skip this place. It kinda has a whole sketchy vibe about it.
They did have this fake gator by the cages Jamey had some fun with though so it wasn’t all bad. The coatis were cute and friendly as well.
