McCammon Branch Falls is a hidden gem located just behind the Gray Hawk Community Park in Mckee, Kentucky.
When you arrive at the park drive all the way to the back and park at the picnic shelter. There is no marker for the trail, but if you head to the corner of the clearing of mowed grass near the woods you will see the trail.
This is a short 0.3 mile hike to a viewing area above the falls.
You will hear the rushing water almost as soon as you start your hike. The incline is pretty steep at the beginning of the trail so prepare yourself. The waterfall is 62 feet high and spectacular. It had been raining for days and was really flowing.
For the brave at heart you can make your way down to the base of the falls.
It involves some rope assistance, ledge hopping and rock scrambling, but you can make it. As I mentioned earlier it had been raining for days so everything was muddy and slick so we didn’t risk it. I’ve seen pictures though and it was very cool.
