Did You Hear That?
You know what that sound is as soon as you hear it.
Driving down the interstate at 60 miles an hour, jamming to Old Dominion and checking the backseat to see if the dog is asleep yet when POP! Yep you just blew a tire.
We were 6 weeks into our full time traveling adventure when Frankenstein blew his first tire. We were about 5 miles into Mississippi leaving Alabama after a pretty crazy week when I heard that pop. I looked at the hubby and was like, “You hear that? Pretty sure we just lost a tire”. We pulled off the road, got out of the car and sure enough the tire on our pups passenger side was shredded.
After digging out the tire iron and the jack we set to our task and within 20 minutes the old tire was off and the spare was on. Drove five minutes to a gas station and while Jamey was filling up I checked the spare we put on. It looked suspicious. Jamey said it was fine, but I didn’t trust it. If we blew another tire we be screwed, because we only had the one spare.
A local saw me staring and asked if everything was o.k.. I told him my story and then he told me there was a Walmart five miles down the road. So away we went to the retail mecca. Twenty minutes and $90 later we had a new tire and rim.
So we survived our first blow out.
I’m sure it won’t be the last.
How many tires have you blown on your rig?
