Collapsible Sink Strainer For My Veggies?
I was so excited when I ordered my little collapsible sink strainer.
The plan:
- Wash the dishes then stick them in the drainer in the sink to dry.
- It doubles as a strainer when I make pasta.
- Collapses and takes up little space.
Yeah that’s not how it’s worked out at all.
Technically it is not the strainers fault. I just hate the sink. It’s small and useless. We started with a marine foot pump with the idea of conserving water. They just suck. I hated it so much.
So we installed an electric pump next. It uses a lot of water and the pressure when you turned it on kept blowing the hose off if you adjusted the handle. Plus the noise. It’s just so loud. So yeah I hate the sink.
We have a 10 gallon water storage tank in our pup. You can’t drink the water coming from it because there are no filters. The plan was just to use it for dishes and showers. We have been out here 5 weeks now and I haven’t used the sink for water once.
For the last week we have been going back and forth about taking it all out. If we removed the top sink area we would have more storage options. If we remove the tank that’s almost 100 pounds less weight for us to haul around and more storage options.
The 10 gallon tank is emergency water at this point. We have a sawyer squeeze to filter it if we needed it to drink. For now it’s gonna to stay. We will give it another 5 weeks and see if we use it then decide. I just keep thinking about that space. Pups are so small and more space is always nice.
And that whole making pasta thing I mentioned you ask? Yeah that’s just too much work. Takes so long to cook so it wastes a lot of propane. It’s so messy to clean up too and who wants to do that. I went from eating pasta once a week to once since we started traveling.
This post was suppose to be about a collapsible sink strainer though wasn’t it?
I still love the strainer, but for a whole other reason. It’s the perfect home for our fruits and veggies. A perfect fit and all tidy like in the sink. Yeah, that makes me excited about it again.
